Absolutely loved this place. The design/branding is incredible wholesome. Fish taco was incredible and was part of an awesome happy hour menu. The variety of salsas in the chips and salsa was also a great touch. Legitimately one of the best fish tacos I can remember. The Al Pastor fish entree (branzino) was the best fish dish my partner has ever had. Highly recommend this place!!
Absolutely delicious meal! I’d been wanting to try for years and it 100% lived up to the expectation. Fantastic flavors and fresh ingredients. It’s a MUST.
Recently saw this place on bon appétits best new restaurants of 2023 so we had to give it a try. WOW! So good. A fantastic no frills margarita (the way they should be!) and the Al pastor were the highlights. We also got a dish that I forget the name of but it was fish, shrimp and scallops, the highest spice level. SO GOOD! It was spicy but very flavorful.
Everything was delicious. The guacamole, the tacos, the ceviche ….all of it. Staff was kind and helpful. I’m so happy we ate here!
The whole meal was a beautiful ode to what Baja California food is. You could taste each plate and ingredient was chosen meticulously to be able to honor an authentic BC experience. The seafood was fresh, The personnel were extremely knowledgeable of the menu and offered excellent recommendations. Words of advice for this place... leave some room for dessert then rock the dance floor downstairs at the black flamingo.
We loved this place. The service was amazing, the food was even better and the environment as well. The music wasn’t too loud so we could keep a group of 7 people nicely talking. The fish was incredible fresh and delicious. The tacos were perfect! And even the desserts surprised us. I live in Mexico and I can say that the Mexican vibe and seasoning is here. We’ll come back again!!! Highly recommended
I’m gonna write it. Ensenada is currently my favorite Mexican spot in NYC! Why? Because their spicy margarita (get it with mezcal) is genuinely spicy!! And it’s soooo good!!! Also a big seafood person so this restaurant is perfect for me. The tuna tostada is sooooooo good. I could eat 20 of them! We got the tastings of tostadas and aguachiles. The aguachiles were so different from each other that I had difficulties choosing a favorite. I loved them all!! Then the whole branzino “al pastor” is insanely delicious!!!! That pineapple “butter”, I want that smeared over everything!!! Can’t wait to come back!!! They have happy hour too at the bar. We also got chips and salsa and the 5 different salsas were delicious in each of their own way!
I went for lunch on a Saturday and I must say that neither the food or the restaurant were good enough for these prices.
First of all, there was only ONE waiter which was also working as hostess and oh my god he was struggling! He gave our four table reservation to a couple and then we had to wait around 20min to sit down. Then it took very long to him to come back and take our orders. I don’t blame him but poor guy, he was struggling and the restaurant was full at the time.
My next complain is the food, it was just underwhelming. It wasn’t delicious and for that price it should have been amazing.
Big problem, the spicy food was not even spicy and I’m not very good with spicy food! To me it felt like simple Mexican seafood was trying to hard to look fancy and tried to taste more elevated? Not sure but honestly simple would have been better.
I guess these dishes, which look very nice in photo, are so expensive because they look good but the food portions were so small and as I mentioned flavors are just meh.
The tuna tostadas were tiny ! Good flavor but way too small. Also if you order extra tostadas for your aguachile, they will charge you extra! Just buy tostadas Guerrero, they taste better and they are bigger.
For my Mexican friends, gracias pero no, the food is not worth the price.
